MEET GABOSCH
THE STORY
On completion of various studies and programmes, the security of water supply of the town of Amsterdam was found to be insufficient. A sustainable raw water supply was identified from the Gabosch river.
The river runoff proved to be insufficient during low rainfall periods and excess runoff had to be stored during higher rainfall periods. This led to the conceptualisation of a Dam.
THE TEAM
The team consist of various stakeholders including Gert Sibande District Municipality, Department of Water and Sanitation, Mkhondo Local Municipality, AFI Consult, the Contractor and the Inkomati-Usuthu CMA.

The appointed Contractor is a joint venture between Unik Civil Engineering and Diphatse Trading & Projects.

The Gabosch dam will be located in the Gabosch river, approximately 5km north of the town. The dam will have a storage capacity of 1,1M cubic meters, with a concrete spillway of approximately 22m high and Rockfill NOC of approximately 28m high.
